Get started with AI Search

AI Search adds AI-powered search and chat to your website, automatically indexing your content via the Quant crawler. Once enabled, visitors can search your site using natural language and receive AI-generated answers based on your content.

Prerequisites

Before enabling AI Search, ensure you have:

An active Quant project
At least one domain configured in your project
Content deployed or a crawler configuration ready to run

Enable AI Search

Select your project in the dashboard
Navigate to Search in the dashboard sidebar
Click Enable AI Search

This creates a vector search index for your project automatically. The index is ready to receive content as soon as it is created.

How indexing works

When you enable AI Search, the Quant crawler extracts content from your pages, generates vector embeddings, and stores them in a searchable index. Pages are indexed automatically when crawled.

The indexing process:

The crawler visits each page on your site
Page content is extracted and cleaned (navigation, footers, and boilerplate are removed)
Content is split into chunks and converted into vector embeddings
Embeddings are stored in your project’s search index

Preview your search

The dashboard provides a preview page where you can test both the chat widget and the search page before embedding them on your site. The preview supports both light and dark themes, allowing you to see how each component will appear to visitors.

To access the preview:

Navigate to Search in the dashboard sidebar
Select the Preview tab
Toggle between light and dark themes to test appearance
Enter a search query or ask a question to verify results

Disable AI Search

If you no longer need AI Search, you can disable it:

Navigate to Search in the dashboard sidebar
Click Disable
