Reads 1 to 100 keys. Works on format 1 and format 2 stores. items has one entry per requested key in input order: the entry, or null for a missing or expired key. A response over 4 MiB is 400 LIMIT_EXCEEDED. A ledger entry needs the ledger_read permission (and, for a token with a scope list, the kv:ledger:read scope; a legacy token without a scope list needs the permission only) (else 403 PERMISSION_DENIED for the whole request); personal fields read “[PERSONAL]” unless the role has ledger_reveal and reveal is true (logged as kv.ledger.reveal). Secret values are write-only through the API: a value stored as a secret (encrypted true) reads “[ENCRYPTED]”; read it in an edge function. A read: a lost connection is 503 UNAVAILABLE with retryable true.

STORE_MIGRATING (retryable, Retry-After) or UNAVAILABLE. UNAVAILABLE with retryable true (for example a new store whose table is still being created, with Retry-After 5) is safe to retry with backoff; honour Retry-After. With retryable false the outcome of a write is unknown: read before you write again.
